What are the company’s minimum requirements?

JCT’s minimum requirements meet or exceed Part 391.41 through 391.49, subpart E, of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).

Age-Time/Type of Experience	Must be at least 23 years of age. Must have at least one (18) months over the road tractor/trailer experience. This experience should be related to the same type of equipment and operations as JCT employs. Graduates of acceptable driving schools are considered for the driver – training program.
Violations/Accidents	Must have a safe driving record. Applicants with three (3) or more moving citations in the prior two (3) years may not qualify. Preventable accidents occurring in the previous two (3) years will qualify only upon review of the accident circumstances. No speeding tickets of 15 mph over or more.
Education	Must be able to meet all FMCSR qualifications as minimum standards. Must successfully complete all JCT training courses. Must have a valid Class A CDL with hazardous material endorsement.
Prior Employment	Past employment and experience in the prior five (5) years must be verified prior to certification (no gaps in work history allowed.) Employment and self – employment must be verified.
Job Description	Must meet all JCT requirements as defined in the job description.
Physical	All drivers certified as JCT company drivers must have a new physical with the JCT physician and a copy of the long form in JCT’s possession.
Road Test	Must take the prescribed regulation road test. Must be able to safely operate JCT type equipment.
Cargo	Must be able to determine if the cargo has been properly loaded, counted, secured and protected in the trailer.
Orientation	Must attend 4-day initial orientation/training program.
Are Student Drivers Used?	Yes. The schools are evaluated by the Training Manager, and critiqued by their PTDIA certification standards and their success measured by the JCT loss monitoring system. Driver trainers will also be monitored in terms of the trainee’s success with JCT.
